Competitive Orientation Selective Arrays

We present an architecture for orientation selective image filtering that includes competitive interactions between different arrays tuned to different orientations. We prove that the presence of these interactions sharpens the spatial frequency tuning of the filters in comparison to a similar architecture which lacks these interactions.
